Metropolitan Hospital is the most famous hospital in Ecuador. It is located on Av. Mariana de Jess z/ny Nicols Arteta, Quito. A group of leading physicians established this international hospital in 1985 with the technical assistance of AMI, American Medical International. It is now an ISO 9001:2000 certified hospital implementing the Integral System of Quality (SGIC) and the modern Intelligent Operating Room, OR1 system. The hospital has earned the cooperation of many highly regarded medical centers, including the Cleveland Clinic, the Mayo Clinic, the University of Texas, and Mount Sinai Hospital.
The operating room has 13 operating rooms and is known for performing the most difficult surgeries, including open heart, spine and brain surgeries and bone marrow transplants. HVA is led by the HCJB Global Hands, a recognized NGO with two leading hospitals in Ecuador. Established in 1955, the hospital has 104 beds and departments in all specialties of medicine and surgery. It is preferred for general practice, trauma care, ophthalmology and surgery. The operating room has well-equipped rooms for general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, maxillary/facial surgery, pediatric surgery and plastic surgery. Carlos Andrade Marn Hospital located at Av.18 de Septiembre 3220 y Ayacucho is another reliable hospital in Quito. It provides good medical care at a reasonable price to its members. This healthcare facility is managed by the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS), a charitable organization.
